sip on cute reusable mugs instead of plastic nonsense

We’ve all had one (or more like 30) of those mornings where you snooze your alarm twelve times, wake up frantic, toss on some clean undies, bring your makeup bag in the car and run out the door to work.

And you forget a morning essential: coffee.

Listen fam, I’ve been there more times than I can count — In fact, that was me this morning. And in those situations it would be easy to grab a coffee from Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts in a plastic or paper cup.

And obviously there’s going to be times where your need for caffeine trumps your zero waste ethos. And that’s OK!

Buuutttt, here’s my suggestion: keep a reusable on you at ALL TIMES.

Something simple would be to keep a mason jar on your purse everyday just in case.

Or, another maybe less dangerous option (I throw my purse around everywhere and my mason jar would probably break inside my bag) would be to clean our your travel coffee mug as soon as you get home from work and then place it right in your bag.

If you have time to make coffee at home — great! If not, you have your reusable mug in your bag for a quick stop at the coffee shop on your way to work.

A lot of times living a zero waste life just involves thinking ahead. Like, bringing a reusable water bottle or stainless steel straw in your bag, eating at home or bringing freshly packed snacks with you wherever you go so you aren’t inclined to buy that plastic fast food or plastic wrapped snickety snacks.

It’s not easy to do. For people like me, who always run late and feel like they can’t get their life nearly organized enough to properly function, zero waste living can be a challenge.

But it’s worth it! And it’s important to extend grace to yourself through the zero waste journey.

We all use plastic now and then, so don’t beat yourself up if you make a mistake. Learn from your mistakes and keep on keepin’ on, fam!
